Meeting of 14th October 2015

Our meeting held on the 14th October 2015 was a 2nd degree. On this occasion the Right Worshipful Master Bro Allan Simpson welcomed some 51 members and visitors into the lodge room to witness the degree ceremonial. At the close of the meeting the RWM thanked all in attendance for their support. In reply Bro McGowan Substitute Master Lodge Denny and Loanhead no 176 thanked the RWM for the warmth and cordiality of the welcome given to the visitors and congratulated him on the quality of the degree ceremonial. The next lodge meeting will be held on Wednesday 28th October, 2015 at 1930hrs. The business of the evening will be Correspondence, Business including nomination and election of office bearers and a third degree. All brethren will be made most welcome.

Meeting of 22nd April 2015

Our last meeting was a Mark degree held on the 22nd April 2015 when 4 brethren ware advanced to the degree of Mark Master mason. On this occasion the Right Worshipful Master Bro Allan Simpson welcomed some 66 members and visitors into the lodge room to witness the degree ceremonial. At the close of the meeting the RWM thanked all in attendance for their support and hoped they had an enjoyable summer recess. In reply Bro Bruce Smith Right Worshipful Master Lodge Tay Union No 273 thanked the RWM for the warmth and cordiality of the welcome given to the visitors and congratulated him on the quality of the degree ceremonial. The next lodge meeting will be held on Wednesday 9th September 2015 at 1930hrs. The business of the evening will be Correspondence, Ballot and a first degree conferred by the Right Worshipful Master and Brethren of Lodge Camelon 1456. All brethren in good standing will be made most welcome.

Meeting of Wednesday 25th February

On Wednesday 25th February, 2015 some 65 visitors and members attended lodge Polmont and witnessed a fine rendering of the 1st degree by the Right Worshipful Master Bro Allan Simpson and his team of office bearers.  RWM Kevin McLean Lodge St,Andrews Denny and Loanhead thanked the RWM for the welcome given to all the visitors. The next meeting will be held within Lodge Polmont on Wednesday 11th March which will be conferred by Lodge Kirknewton and Ratho No 85, headed by their RWM Bro Alan Banks making a welcome return to his mother lodge. The business of the evening will be Accounts, Correspondence, and a first degree. All brethren in good standing will be made very welcome.

Regular Meeting 10th Dec 2014

Despite the inclement weather last Wednesday (10th December) there was a good turnout of brethren and visitors present at Lodge Polmont’s last meeting of 2014 where they witnessed a fine rendering of the Third Degree by the new RWM, Bro. Allan Simpson, and his new team of Office Bearers.  Visitors from sister lodges were warmly welcomed into the Lodge and were asked to convey fraternal greetings from Lodge Polmont to their own respective lodges.  Bro. George Robertson, PPGM of Forfarshire and PM the Operative Mason Lodge of Dundee No 47, replied on behalf of the visitors.
On the previous Friday, 5th December, many brethren and guests had enjoyed a memorable evening of excellent speakers and first-class harmony at the annual Festival of St Andrew dinner. 
 
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 14th January 2015 at 7.30 pm. when the business of the evening will be minutes, accounts etc. and a First Degree.   All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome.

Third Degree

Annual Installation of Office Bearers

A full house of members and visitors attended the Annual Installation of Office Bearers at Lodge Polmont No 793 on the 26th of November, including a large deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire headed by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Bro. Andrew A McKinnon.  They witnessed Bro. Allan Simpson being installed as Master of the Lodge, together with the Installation of his Office Bearers.  The ceremony was expertly conducted by Bro William Fulton and Bro. Alex Muir, both Past Masters of Lodge Polmont.  Visitors from the many sister lodges present were warmly welcomed and the RWM-Elect of Lodge Dolphin No 911 replied on behalf of all the visiting brethren.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 10th December at 7.30 pm. when the business of the evening will be minutes accounts etc. and a Third Degree.   All members and visiting brethren will be most welcome.  The Festival of St Andrew Dinner will be celebrated on Friday 5th December at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.  This promises to be an excellent evening and it’s not too late to get your name down, if you have not already done so – just contact any Office Bearer.

Annual General Meeting

Lodge Polmont No 793 held its Annual General Meeting last Wednesday (12th November) where the Secretary and the Treasurer presented their annual reports and accounts.  At the conclusion of that business the members and visitors present witnessed RWM, Bro. John Curry, and his team in an excellent  rendering of the Second Degree as it is worked in Lodge Polmont.  There were visiting brethren from six sister lodges present at the meeting and those visitors were given a warm welcome and asked to convey fraternal greetings on return to their own lodges.  The RWM of Lodge Camelon No 1456, Bro. John Merrilees, replied on behalf of the visitors.  Before closing the Lodge, the RWM expressed his thanks to all who had helped and supported him during his two years as Master of the Lodge.
The next Regular Meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday 26th November at   7.00 pm.  Business will be minutes, accounts and the Installation of the RWM-Elect, Bro. Allan Simpson, and his Office Bearers.   The Festival of St Andrew (the Lodge Installation Dinner) will be celebrated on Friday 5th December (Tickets priced £10).  This will be a good evening of friendship and harmony and a good turnout of brethren and visitors is requested.  All members and visiting brethren will receive a warm welcome on both occasions. 

Peleton and Updates

It has been a busy time in Lodge Polmont No 793 recently. On Sunday 19th October the Lodge was a welcome “pit stop” for a “peleton” (make that “drookit peleton” – the weather being most unkind that day) of masonic cyclists from stirlingshire lodges who over that weekend visited every Lodge in the Province of Stirlingshire to raise funds for Prostate Scotland.  Final accounting has still to take place but a significant sum of money has been raised for this worthwhile cause.
 
On Wednesday 22nd October, brethren and visitors from 8 sister lodges witnessed a fine working of the Third Degree by the RWM, John Curry, and his team. On the following Wednesday (29th October) there was again a good turnout of brethren and visitors to hear an interesting and thought-provoking lecture delivered in expert and entertaining fashion by Bro. Kevin Thompson, RWM of Lodge Coupar o’ Fife No 19. His theme was “Understanding the First Degree” and his lecture was followed by a wide-ranging discussion on many masonic topics including how today’s fast changing world impacts upon the Craft in general and particularly here in Scotland.
 
The next regular meeting of the Lodge, which is the AGM, will be held on Wednesday 12th November at 7.15 pm when the business will be minutes, accounts, reports and a Second Degree. As ever a warm invitation is extended to all qualified brethren and visitors. The Lodge will again participate in the annual Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph in Polmont chuchyard. on Sunday 9th November. For brethren wishing to attend the service commences at 12.15 pm.

IPM, Bro. Alex Muir

On Wednesday 8th October, in the absence of the RWM, John Curry, who was enjoying a well earned holiday, the regular meeting of Lodge Polmont No 793 was presided over by IPM, Bro. Alex Muir.  Almost 70 members and visitors witnessed the WSW, Bro Allan Simpson, and the Office Bearers confer the First Degree in an excellent rendering of the Lodge Polmont ceremony.  Visitors from 8 visiting lodges were given a warm welcome into the Lodge and Bro, Graig Lamont, RWM of Lodge Dolphin No 911 responded on behalf of the visitors.

Ceilidh Evening

On Saturday 27th September “Eriskay Lilt” provided the entertainment and music for a most enjoyable Ceilidh evening in the Lodge.  Solid nourishment for members and friends was provided by a buffet, the highlight of which was the RWM’s world-famous stovies.
 
The next regular meeting of the Lodge will be held on Wednesday 22nd October at 7.30 pm when the business will be minutes, accounts, ballot, election of Office Bearers and a Third Degree.  There will be an Emergency Meeting on Wednesday 29th October for a lecture on the First Degree by Bro. Kevin Thompson, a notable speaker on Masonic topics.   A warm invitation is extended to all qualified brethren and visitors for both meetings.
