It has been a busy time in Lodge Polmont No 793 recently. On Sunday 19th October the Lodge was a welcome “pit stop” for a “peleton” (make that “drookit peleton” – the weather being most unkind that day) of masonic cyclists from stirlingshire lodges who over that weekend visited every Lodge in the Province of Stirlingshire to raise funds for Prostate Scotland. Final accounting has still to take place but a significant sum of money has been raised for this worthwhile cause.
On Wednesday 22nd October, brethren and visitors from 8 sister lodges witnessed a fine working of the Third Degree by the RWM, John Curry, and his team. On the following Wednesday (29th October) there was again a good turnout of brethren and visitors to hear an interesting and thought-provoking lecture delivered in expert and entertaining fashion by Bro. Kevin Thompson, RWM of Lodge Coupar o’ Fife No 19. His theme was “Understanding the First Degree” and his lecture was followed by a wide-ranging discussion on many masonic topics including how today’s fast changing world impacts upon the Craft in general and particularly here in Scotland.
The next regular meeting of the Lodge, which is the AGM, will be held on Wednesday 12th November at 7.15 pm when the business will be minutes, accounts, reports and a Second Degree. As ever a warm invitation is extended to all qualified brethren and visitors. The Lodge will again participate in the annual Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph in Polmont chuchyard. on Sunday 9th November. For brethren wishing to attend the service commences at 12.15 pm.
