Meeting of 8th April 2026

On which day and date, a regular Meeting was held within the Masonic Hall 14 Maddiston Road Brighton’s at 1930hrs.

Present were the Right Worshipful Master Bro Ian Simpson, office bearers and Brethren as per the attendance register. 50 brethren signed the tyle 40 brethren from lodge Polmont 10 visitors and apologies were received from 12 brethren and there was a total of 6 visiting lodges in attendance

Opening

The lodge was opened in the 1st degree in due and ancient form. The RWM welcomed all into the lodge.

Fabric collection

The fabric collection realised the sum of £122.10 to which the RWM thanked the assembled brethren.

Correspondence

A letter was received from Bro David Fildes on behalf of Sant Beuno Lodge No 6733 thanking the RWM, Past Masters, Worshipful Wardens and the brethren of lodge Polmont for the warm welcome that the delegation from the Province of North Wales and the Province of Chester had received on entering the lodge, for a highly impressive 3rd degree ceremony which was carried out in an exemplary manner which had left a lasting impression on the visitors and thanking Bro Alex Muir IPM, PM on ensuring that their visit to Scotland was one of pleasure as well as profit and for looking after them throughout the day also stating that they are looking forward to our visit in September to Chester.

Almoners Report

There was a short almoners report, Bro Ian Askham has been admitted to a care home due to deuteriation, Bro Brian Logan has had an overnight stay in hospital due to a knee injury, Bro John Curry PM phoned Bro John Gauld and reports that there is no change in his health, Bro Robert Sharp is unable to attend meetings but passes on his best regards to the lodge, Bro George Robertson is also unable to attend meetings and passes on his best regards. The RWM thanked the Bro Almoner for keeping the lodge up to date.

Visitations

The WJW Bro Graham Black read out the various meeting that had been made by the brethren of the lodge since our last meeting, Thursday the 26th of March a deputation to Camelon 1456 to confer a 2nd degree headed by our RWM. Tuesday the 31st of March Lodge Abercrombie 2nd degree conferred by Lodge Ladywell 1474 WSW, Bro T Hardie and Bro S Baxter. Wednesday the 1st of April Lodge Clackmannan 1303 1st degree RWM, DM and WSW. Thursday the 2nd of April Douglas lodge 409 3rd degree WSW and Bro JD. Thursday the 2nd of April Lodge Tulliallan No 598 2nd degree RWM, DM and Bro T Hardie. Tuesday the 7th of April the RWM led a deputation consisting of 28 brethren into Lodge Zetland No 391 to confer the 2nd degree. Tuesday the 2nd of April Bro P Hamilton along with Bro P Neilson PM, HM attended Ancient Stirling to witness a 3rd degree conferred by Stirling Royal Arch  and on each and every occasion the brethren were charged to convey warm and fraternal greetings to their mother lodge at their earliest return. Our RWM thanked all who had taken the time to go out and visit the sister lodges and promoting lodge Polmont over the last two weeks, the RWM then asked the assembled brethren to give a hearty vote of thanks for the various visits that were made.

1st Degree

The RWM then instructed the deacons to retire, prepare and introduce Mr Callum Prattis in order to confer the entered apprentice or 1st degree, which was carried out with most solemn, Precise and dignified manner as practiced by the RWM and office bearers of lodge Polmont.

 RWM instructed the Bro deacons to uplift the collection which realised the sum of £157.82 to which the RWM thanked the brethren.

The RWM then thanked the brethren in the columns for their quiet attention during the ceremonial and that the brethren once again show their appreciation to the degree team for a job well done.

To the members of Lodge Polmont he once again thanked them for their continued support and to the visitors he thanked them for their attendance. RWM then went on to thank Bro John Galloway for his musical accompaniment which greatly enhances the degree work carried out, to the PM’S who stepped in at the last minute he also thanked.

Invitation to speak

The RWM then invited anyone from the body of the lodge if they had anything to say for the benefit of freemasonry or this lodge in particular he would hear them now. Bro A Ure PM sec took the opportunity to thank the brethren who donated Easter eggs which had been handed over to Enabled Scotland, the RWM thanked Bro Ure PM for his efforts which was greatly appreciated and asked the brethren to put their hands together in a vote of thanks. PM Bro Jim Forsyth replied on behalf of the visiting brethren for the warmth and cordiality on entering the lodge something that has always come to be expected at lodge Polmont congratulating the RWM for an exceptional 1st degree carried out by the RWM and his degree team and congratulating in his absence Bro Callum Prattis on becoming lodge Polmont’s newest entered apprentice he also thanked Bro John Galloway for his musical accompaniment and finishing off by bringing warm and fraternal greetings from all the visiting sister lodges but more in particular his own lodge, lodge St John Slamannan No 484 .

Intimations

The RWM gave the following intimation that the next regular meeting is on Wednesday the 22nd of April which will be the Mark degree RWMM will be Bro Alan Curr PM.

The Reigning Master’s degree is on Friday the 24th of April, Musical quiz night is on Friday the 8th of May, there is an emergency 1st degree is on Friday the 15th of May and Bro Sam Alston is having another music night.

The RWM then invited those who could stay behind to do so for some lodge hospitality and to the brethren that could not that they have a safe journey home there being no further business the RWM closed the lodge in due and ancient form.
